Compiled and edited by the Reverend Father Loren Gavitt, The St. Augustine's Prayer Book is described by its author as a "book of devotion for members of the Anglican Communion."
The book opens with a discussion of the Christian's obligations and then goes on to its various devotions. Prayers suitable for different times of day and occasions are followed by the order for the Mass (conforming to the 1928 Book of Common Prayer), the Sacrament of Penance, and the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Other useful devotions include the Stations of the Cross, various Litanies and Novenas, and meditations for the Holy Hour (sometimes called the Watch Before the Altar of Repose).
The St. Augustine's Prayer Book differs from the The Traditional St. Augustine's Prayer Book in that certain aspects of the former follow more closely the Book of Common Prayer, while the latter conforms to the Anglican Missal.
